Stone description: Turquenite is turquoise-coloured howlite. Because howlite is very porous and absorbs liquids well, it is dyed into various shades. The most popular is turquenite, which is used as a cheaper substitute for turquoise in stone costume jewellery. In terms of composition, it is a calcium borosilicate.
