Stone description: A stone famous for its yellow, yellow-brown to golden colouring, additionally accompanied by a silky lustre. Thanks to its impressive appearance, it is used to make exclusive figurines and jewellery. Its occurrence is limited to only a few locations worldwide, of which the most famous is the deposit in the Doorn Mountains in South Africa. In terms of composition, it is quartz penetrated by parallel fibres of so-called crocidolite asbestos. The multicolour variety represents a combination of tiger’s eye and hawk’s eye and is characterized by alternating golden, bluish and greenish shades.
