Stone description: One of the best-known tourmalines in the world, attractive for its black, opaque look. It is also known as schorl – a name derived from the German village of Zschorlau, where a large amount of this mineral was discovered. Tourmaline composition is variable with many different impurities. Black tourmalines are usually very rich in iron.
