Stone description: Topaz is one of the longest-known gemstones. Legend says it was found by shipwrecked pirates on the island of Cytis in the Red Sea. Hence its name, because in Arabic topazas means “they searched and found”. It may be clear, yellow, yellow-red, light blue, greenish or pink, and it is always vitreously lustrous. It can be found in Brazil, Madagascar, Kenya and Namibia. In terms of composition, it is an aluminium silicate containing fluorine.
