Stone description: A two-coloured speciality that hides red ruby growing into a richly green zoisite matrix. Ruby zoisite is mined in two deposits in Tanzania - these are now already largely exhausted, which is why the price of high-quality rough is constantly rising. In terms of composition, ruby represents a gemstone variety of corundum – aluminium oxide. Zoisite, on the other hand, is a calcium aluminium silicate related to epidote.
