Stone description: Rubellite is a rare pink variety of tourmaline. It is also the tourmaline that has been used in jewellery for the longest time. Rubellite forms elongated crystals that increase in value with greater transparency and colour intensity.  Among the world deposits of this gemstone are Mozambique, Madagascar, Brazil and Russia. The composition of tourmalines is variable with many kinds of admixtures. Rubellite’s pink colour is caused by manganese oxides.
