Stone description: Diopside is an attractive mineral which, due to its magnesium or calcium content, takes on various forms from colourless to deep green. Its name comes from Greek – dis and ?ps?, meaning two faces. The name refers to its ability to orient in two planes; when viewed from different angles, it truly changes its colour shade. In terms of composition, it is a rock-forming mineral from the group of monoclinic pyroxenes.
