Stone description: A two-coloured speciality that contains red ruby growing into a deep green zoisite matrix. Ruby zoisite is mined at two deposits in Tanzania - however, these are now already largely exhausted, which is why the price of quality raw material is constantly rising. In terms of composition, ruby represents a gemstone variety of corundum – aluminium oxide. Zoisite is then a calcium and aluminium silicate related to epidote.
