Stone description: Topaz is one of the longest-known gemstones. Legend says it was discovered by shipwrecked pirates on the island of Cytis in the Red Sea. Hence the name, because in Arabic topazas means “they searched and found”. It may be clear, but can also be yellow, yellow-red, light blue, greenish or pink, always with a glassy lustre. It can be found in Brazil, Madagascar, Kenya and Namibia. In terms of composition, it is an aluminium silicate containing fluorine.
