Stone description: Diopside is an attractive mineral which, due to the content of magnesium or calcium, acquires a varied appearance from colourless to deep green. The name comes from Greek – dis and ?ps?, which means two faces. The name refers to the ability of orientation in two planes; at different viewing angles, it truly changes its colour shade. In terms of composition, it is a rock-forming mineral from the group of monoclinic pyroxenes.
