Stone description: An interesting variety of agate, named after the port of Sardy in Asia Minor, through which gemstones were imported from India to Greece in antiquity. Like agate, sardonyx was used to make cameos, intaglios and seals. It is characterized by red-brown, black and grey-white banding; you may also find violet, green, yellow and other colours. Thanks to its colourful design, it has become a sought-after stone among jewellers and collectors. The stone comes from India.
