It is translucent to transparent, and its typical pink shade is caused by manganese oxide admixtures. As its transparency and colour intensity increase, so does its price. The main deposits occur in Brazil, Madagascar, South Africa and Namibia. This rose quartz comes from South Africa. The South African variety offers more intense shades that do not fade even after prolonged use. Compared to some Brazilian rose quartz, African stones are characterized by lower transparency.
