Stone description: Rhodochrosite is nicknamed the raspberry stone because of its pink to raspberry-red colouring. It is a gemstone highly popular with jewellers. Rhodochrosite appeared on the market only in the 1940s, and its best-known deposits are in Argentina, Mexico, Canada, the USA and Peru. In terms of composition, it is manganese carbonate, often containing admixtures of other carbonates.
