Stone description: Shungite is a unique mineral valued for its alleged ability to neutralize negative environmental influences and harmonize the energy of a space. It is also widely used for water purification. It is an opaque black stone with a subtle metallic lustre whose popularity worldwide continues to grow. It is a polymineral rock with a high carbon content. It was named after its place of occurrence – the Karelian village of Shun’ga on the shore of Lake Onega, where it was first discovered.
