Stone description: Mookaite shows earthy shades from creamy and ochre through red to purple and brown. Often its colours blend into a single multicoloured pattern. It is found in western Australia near the Kennedy Range on local farmers’ land. It began to be used for commercial purposes only relatively recently. In terms of composition, it is a rock that consists of 90% siliceous components permeated by sediments formed by single-celled organisms (so-called radiolarians).
