Stone description: A mineral most commonly found in green shades, but it can also take on yellow, purple and rainbow colours. It occurs in massive veins and forms perfect cubic crystals in cavities, which are very popular among collectors. Its origin goes back to Sichuan Province in China. In terms of composition, it is calcium fluoride. Previously it was assumed that the yellow colouring was caused by a small admixture of ferric compounds; however, according to newer research, it is related to defects in the crystal structure.
