Brazilian pieces stand out with a green shade caused by an admixture of fine flakes of chromian mica, fuchsite. In addition to its impressive colouring, it also boasts a high lustre and a subtle sparkle caused by dispersed mica or hematite flakes. In terms of composition, it is a variety of fine-grained quartz.
